  • May 2004 – Article in Lexington Herald Leader about proposal to mayor’s office by Capt. Mark Barnard for Public Safety Museum.  Article included information on the Memorial Day weekend Tribute to Heroes concert and benefit to kick off fundraising.
  • May 5, 2004 – Meeting at the old courthouse with Ed Houlihan, commissioners, Chiefs and interested parties to “scope out” the 1st floor area in question.
  • May 30, 2004 – Tribute to Heroes Ceremony and Concert at Memorial Coliseum.
  • July 6, 2004 – First official organizational meeting of interested parties was held at the old courthouse, with Ed Houlihan and Rob Magrish in attendance.  A Board of Directors was appointed and the acquisition of liability insurance was discussed along with forming a 501 C-3 non-profit organization.
  • July 23, 2004 – Lexington Public Safety Museum becomes incorporated.
  • November 20, 2004 – Grand Opening……
  • May 2005 — Construction started on Museum’s website.
  • June 2005 — Museum’s website completed and advertised to the public.
